Taking place throughout the month of July, the Festival is bigger and better than ever this year, offering a fantastically diverse programme of world class events in the fields of music, theatre, film, science and literature.

Delve into the life of Charles Dickens as we celebrate his 200th birthday with Claire Tomalin, or discover sensational cellist Pavel Gomziakov in his UK debut. Be transported to the bright lights of Broadway with charismatic conductor John Wilson as he returns to Harrogate with his John Wilson Orchestra and a glittering programme, and prepare to dance like you've never danced before with award-winning 11-piece folk collective, Bellowhead.

The programme is packed with our signature blend of world class international artists including Clare Teal, Curtis Stigers, Black Dyke Band, Ex Cathedra and Melvyn Tan. Don't miss our Raworths Literature and Lecture Series, featuring some of the most talented authors and playwrights at work today, including appearances from Claire Tomalin, Sue Townsend, Victoria Hislop, Michael Frayn and Jon McGregor, among many other names.

We're proud to announce that the spectacular Spiegeltent returns this year for a two-week residency on Crescent Gardens, providing a magical stage for a dazzling array of headline acts, as well as a fun-filled Children’s Festival programme featuring fabulous children’s authors, music workshops and hands-on science experiments.

Come rain or come shine, there's something for everybody this year!

Tickets are on sale now with more events added daily.

The sector is a highly varied one, including the arts, design, advertising, video games, film and publishing. Yet the industries all have certain things in common – they earn their profits from the creative skills of their workforce and the generation of intellectual property.

This report demonstrates that York and North Yorkshire’s arts and creative industries sector represents an important and expanding part of the private-sector economy.
